When I was a senior in high school, my aunt suddenly died of pneumonia at 43. We were completely devastated. She was full of joy and there was not a single dull day with her in it. We did not know how we would move forward but God did; because just six weeks before we lost Barbara Jo, he gave us Bryer Ross – a baby boy full of joy, lighting up every room since.
He brings life from death.
From a hospital bed in Memphis, we FaceTimed Micah’s family to show them the sweet squishy face of our baby boy as they gathered around a hospital bed in Jackson, where Micah’s mom would soon breathe her last breath just 14 hours after our Henry breathed in his first. Jenny had an infectious laugh and a smile that would stop you in your tracks. We did not know how to move forward without our mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend; but God did as we now gaze into the sweet squishy face of our son, grandson, nephew, sweet child Henry, who keeps us on our toes with his strong will and boyish charm.
He brings life from death.
As we look around, folks are scared. The world feels shaky and uncertain. We’re suddenly safer at home than out living our normal lives. We’ve never lived through a global pandemic and don’t know what it will look like to move forward but God does; He brings life from death, spring after the dead of winter, beauty from ashes. It’s not just what he does, it’s in his character, it’s who he is. We can trust it. Do not despair, Church. It’s Friday but Easter is coming. He will resurrect this season with the newness of life that only he can bring.
He brings life from death.
